TRS test for F3 points leader Ben Taylor

Current Formula 3 Championship points leader Ben Taylor is set to head across to New Zealand for his first test of a Toyota Racing Series FT60 around Mike Pero Motorsport Park, Ruapuna.

The 17-year-old from Victoria will be conducting six sessions in the Toyota Gazoo Racing 2021 FT60 TRS next month with engineering support provided by the TRS category and operations manager Nicholas Caillol.

“I am really excited to drive the FT60 TRS car over in New Zealand next week. It’s an incredible car, and it’s very close to an FIA F3. My goal is to be able to go to Asia and race these cars over there, so to be able to get a taste of it so early in my racing career is a really exciting opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to just getting there and working with Nicolas and the Toyota Gazoo Racing team and can’t thank them enough for the opportunity. These guys have worked with some of the best drivers around and I have this opportunity to learn so much, to improve as a driver. I am also really excited to take what I learn and bring it back to Australia for when I next drive my Tim Macrow Racing F3 car,” said Taylor.

Taylor, currently in his rookie open-wheeler season, impressed at Round 1 of the Formula 3 Championship season back in March where he claimed pole position and won the feature race at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The next round of the championship will be held at Winton Raceway on June 11-13.
